When's the last time someone asked you to do a good job??? All I hear is "when can you be out of here???" If I was still hand finishing I'd be screwed. The contractors I work for give us 5 days to be done with a house (finishing), and the trims getting delivered the 3rd or 4th day, so the trim guy can get in and get started the day we sand. It's never about "right", its about "I'm behind schedule" Using tools has allowed me to stay on top of it and stay alive. I'm not saying we do bad work, I'm saying that we have to adapt if wer'e gonna stay around.
What say you???

I can chime in on this too. The pacsun we are doing we started Today (monday) and they want it sanded out by friday.... Its 250 sheets, but some are 20+feet high, and have all kinds of heating ducts/pipe work running thru sheetrock..and about 50 of the sheets were already hung /fire taped in the previous store..and there just on our ass..but in our contract it doesnt state when the deadline is, so if we need extra days..we need them..I wont sacrafice my name/quality of work for a few days..the painter can wait

I tell em,, Look, the first time you ask me when I'll be done, I'll tell you the truth. The next time you ask me, I'll assume you want me to lie to you and tell you what you want to hear, so the second time you ask me, give me a hint and thats what I'll tell you. This has worked real well for me over the years. We're aleready going just as fast as we can, and using every trick we know how to use, so there is no point in asking us to hurry up.
